귀넷 결선 앞두고 드롭박스 23개 운영

귀넷카운티가 오는 1월 5일 연방상원 결선투표를 앞두고 23곳에 드롭박스를 설치합니다. 이와 관련된 정보를 이승은 기자가 정리했습니다.

귀넷선거관리위원회는 17일 결선투표를 위한 부재자투표를 수거할 드롭박스를 카운티내 23곳에 설치할 예정이라고 밝혔습니다.

이들 드롭박스는 지난 3일 선거 때 이미 사용된 것입니다. 카운티 선관위는 투표 기간 초반 페어그라운즈를 제외한 조기 투표소 8곳에 드롭박스를 설치했었으며 이후 유권자들이 많이 몰리는 15곳에 추가로 마련했습니다.

조지아 선거를 총괄하는 주내무부는 코로나 19 팬데믹으로 지난 6월 프라이머리에 앞서 드롭박스 사용을 허용했습니다. 투표 당일 유권자들이 대거 투표소에 몰리면 바이러스 감염 확산 위험이 커지는 만큼 유권자들에게 투표에 참여할 수 있는 대안을 마련해 주기 위해서였습니다.

드롭박스는 24시간 운영되며 카운티 선관위에서 부재자투표용지를 우편으로 발송한 이후부터 사용할 수 있습니다. 드롭박스 위치 등 구체적인 정보는 라디오 코리아 홈페이지에서 확인하실 수 있습니다.
