올가을 새학기를 앞둔 디캡카운티 공립학교 학생들은 교실로 돌아올지 온라인 수업을 지속할지를 놓고 조만간 결정을 내려야 합니다.
디캡 교육청은 최근 새학기부터 주 5일 대면수업을 제공하는 동시에 중학생과 고등학생들을 위한 ‘플렉스 아카데미(FLEX Academy)’도 운영할 방침이라고 밝혔습니다.
플렉스 아카데미는 교육구에서 마련한 온라인 학습 플랫폼으로 현재 9학년-12학년 학생들에게만 제공되고 있습니다.
하지만 올가을부터는 중-고등학생 모두에게 주요 과목부터 선택 과목까지 해당 프로그램 사용을 열어둘 계획입니다.
쉐릴 왓슨-해리스 교육감은 19일 교육위원회 회의를 통해 “학생들에게 2가지 옵션을 제공할 수 있게 돼 매우 흥분된다”며 “교육청의 이같은 계획에 대해 지역사회 피드백을 기대하고 있다”고 전했습니다.
디캡 교육청은 오는 27일부터 29일까지 사흘간 오후 6시에 타운 홀 화상 미팅을 개최하고 커뮤니티 구성원들의 의견을 수렴할 예정입니다. 디캡의 새학기 개학일은 8월 2일입니다.
