캅카운티내 패밀리 엔터테인먼트 업소인 ‘메인이벤트’ 건물 밖에서 12세 소년이 총격을 당했습니다.
사건은 16일 밤 11시 45분께 캅 파크웨이와 컴버랜드 불러바드 인근서 발생했습니다. 경찰은 이날 현장에서 가슴에 총상을 입은 소년을 발견해 병원으로 옮겼으며 생명에는 지장이 없는 것으로 전해졌습니다.
사건을 수사중인 경찰은 사건 경위 등 구체적인 내용을 밝히지 않은 상태입니다. 소년을 쏘고 달아난 용의자도 아직 잡히지 않았습니다.
사건이 발생한 장소는 AMC 영화관을 비롯해 식당들이 즐비한 분주한 쇼핑센터로 알려졌습니다.
최근 메트로 애틀랜타 지역서는 늦은 밤 친구들과 쇼핑센터를 돌아다니며 시간을 보내는 십대들이 다른 일행과 시비가 붙거나 싸움에 휘말려 폭력 범죄에 연루되는 사건들이 늘고 있습니다.
지난 달에는 십대 3명이 이스트포인트시 캠프 크릭 마켓플레이스에서 총격으로 부상을 입었습니다. 시정부는 즉각 통행금지령을 내리고 청소년 보호에 나섰습니다.
역시 같은 달 더글라스빌에서는 10여명의 십대들이 지난 1월 아버플레이스 몰에서 발생한 폭력 소동으로 체포되는 일도 있었습니다.
한편 이번 사건과 관련해 메인이벤트측은 “피해자와 용의자 모두 우리 시설 손님이 아니었다”는 언급 외에 공개적인 입장은 밝히지 않았습니다.
