조지아주에서 말다툼 끝에 아버지와 아들이 집 앞마당서 영화의 한 장면처럼 쫓고 쫓기는 아찔한 총격전을 벌였습니다.
지난 19일 뉴난시 주택가에서 한 아버지가 911에 전화를 걸어 “아들이 자신을 향해 수차례 총을 발사했다”고 신고했습니다.
언론에 공개된 홈 시큐리티 감시카메라 영상 속에는 아버지와 아들이 총알을 피해 앞마당을 뛰어 다니며 쌍방 총격전을 벌이는 모습의 일부가 포착됐습니다.
이 사건으로 아들인 마리오 폴 클라크(26)가 현장에서 체포됐습니다. 클라크에게는 가중폭력 및 범행 시 총기소지 혐의가 적용됐습니다.
코웨타카운티 셰리프에 따르면 이들 부자의 총격전은 아들이 총기를 소지한 것을 본 아버지가 총을 내놓으라고 하면서 촉발된 것으로 알려졌습니다. 아버지는 클라크가 총기를 내주지 않자 방으로 들어가 자신의 총기를 가져와서는 아들을 쫓기 시작했고 곧이어 총격전이 시작된 것으로 조사 결과 밝혀졌습니다. 다행히 부상자는 없었습니다.
수사팀은 앞마당에서 탄피 여러 개와 집 외관에서 3개의 총탄 구멍을 발견했다고 보고했습니다.
8천달러 보석금이 책정된 클라크는 코웨타 교도소에 수감됐으며 교도소 기록에 따르면 23일에도 여전히 교도소에 수감 중인 것으로 알려졌습니다.
한편 자신이 소유한 집에서 자기방어를 한 아버지에게는 어떤 혐의도 적용되지 않을 방침입니다.
