애틀랜타 한국학교 이사회 (이사장 이국자)와 이사회 산하 건축위원회(위원장 박영규)가 지난 13일 개최한 전달식에서 박선근 전 회장은 건축기금 1만5000달러, 학교 봉사교육 프로그램 개발비 5000달러 등 총 2만달러를 기탁했고, 송종규 전 교장은 2만5000달러를 건축기금으로 전달했습니다.
전달식에는 이국자 이사장, 박영규 위원장, 권명오 이사, 김현경 교장, 썬박 이사(서기) , 조성혜 이사(재무) 등이 함께 했습니다.
한국학교 측은 “두 분의 통큰 후원으로 은행 융자없이 100% 자체 모금으로 개교 40주년을 앞두고 단독 건물 학교 사무실을 매입하는 쾌거를 이루게 됐다”고 밝혔습니다.
한국학교에 따르면 김백규 전 한인회장 등 여러 한인 인사들이 흔쾌히 도움을 주었고 이사회, 고문단들이 합심해 단기간 안에 한국학교 사무실 클로징을 마무리하게 됐다고 전했습니다.
이국자 이사장은 “새로 구입한 사무실은 현재 내부 공사가 한창 진행중에 있다”고 전하고 “12월초에는 새롭게 단장한 사무실로 이전을 완료할 예정”이라고 밝혔습니다.
