애틀랜타에 본사를 두고 있는 델타항공이 조지아보건국의 협조로 이탈리아를 오가는 여행객들이 자가격리 기간 없이 비행할 수 있도록 코로나 19 테스트 프로그램을 론칭할 예정입니다. 새 프로그램이 운영되면 필수 업무나 건강, 교육 등의 목적 하에 미국 여행객들의 이탈리아 입국이 허용될 방침입니다. 자세한 내용을 이승은 기자가 보도합니다.

델타항공은 26일 “애틀랜타 국제공항, 로마 국제공항과 파트너십을 맺고 오는 12월 19일부터 두 국제 도시를 왕래하는 여행객들과 승무원들을 대상으로 코로나 19 테스트 시범 운영에 들어간다”고 밝혔습니다.
새 프로그램 절차는 다음과 같습니다. 먼저 애틀랜타에서 떠나는 여행객들은 공항을 찾기 72시간 전 코로나 19 검사를 받아야 합니다. 이후 출발 당일 항공기 탑승 직전 공항에서 코로나 19 신속검사를 받습니다. 로마-푸미치노 공항에 도착한 여행객들은 그곳에서 또다시 신속검사를 받은 뒤 이탈리아에 입국할 수 있습니다. 애틀랜타로 돌아올 때 역시 여행객들은 로마-푸미치노 공항에서 신속검사를 받아야 합니다.
델타측은 매요 클리닉 조언가들과 해당 프로그램 내용 및 원활한 실행 가능성 등을 평가하고 재검토 해왔다고 밝혔습니다.
델타 관계자는 “백신 보급이 보편적으로 이루어지기 전까지 자가격리 없이 안전한 국제 여행을 재개하기 위한 최고의 방법으로 코로나 19 검사 절차를 신중하게 마련했다”며 “이탈리아 정부도 이에 대해 곧 승인해 줄 것을 기대하고 있다”고 전했습니다.
새 프로그램이 운영되면 필수 업무나 건강, 교육 등에 한해 여행객들의 이탈리아 입국이 허용될 방침입니다.
한편 델타측은 중요 국제 여행 시장 리오프닝을 위한 이번 프로그램 도입에 있어 조지아 보건국의 도움이 컸다고 말했습니다. 관계자는 “조지아 주정부와 이탈리아 정부가 자가격리 자격요건 없이 국제 여행을 안전하게 재개할 수 있도록 테스트 절차 마련 과정서 훌륭한 리더십을 보여줬다”고 밝혔습니다.
