조지아주에서 운영중인 대형 백신 접종소 8곳이 존슨앤드존슨 백신과 화이자 백신 2차분만 접종할 예정입니다.
주보건부와 조지아재난관리청(GEMA)은 26일 “4월 30일 이후로 화이자 백신 1차분은 접종하지 않겠다”며 “5월 1일부터 21일까지 존슨앤드존슨 백신과 화이자 백신 2차분 접종을 시행할 것”이라고 밝혔습니다.
메이컨을 포함해 알바니, 헤이프빌, 클락스빌, 에머슨, 사바나, 콜럼버스, 웨이크로스 등에 마련된 이들 대형접종소 8곳은 이번 접종을 끝으로 계약 종료로 인해 운영을 중단합니다.
브라이언 켐프 주지사는 성명을 통해 “지역사회 백신 보급이 원활해지면서 이제 많은 주민들이 로컬에서 백신을 접종받고 있다”며 “대형 접종소 운영 대신 로컬 보건부 및 공급자들과 협력해 백신접종에 더욱 속도를 내는 일에 주력하겠다”고 전했습니다.
케슬린 투미 주보건부장관도 “자신과 사랑하는 가족, 이웃들을 위해 하루 속히 백신 접종을 받을 것”을 독려했습니다.
한편 주보건부는 질병통제예방센터(CDC)와 식품의약국(FDA)이 존슨앤드존슨의 제약 계열사 얀센의 코로나19 백신에 대해 23일 사용 중지를 해제함에 따라 해당 백신 사용을 재개했습니다.
