풀턴카운티가 저소득층 시니어들의 코로나 19 백신접종을 위해 교통편을 제공합니다.
데이빗 홀랜드 풀턴 전염병 연구소 소장은 “4일부터 교통편이 없어 어려움을 겪는 카운티내 시니어들을 위해 차량 운행 서비스가 마련된다”고 전했습니다. 이에 따라 풀턴카운티 시니어 서비스 프로그램과 시니어 센터를 이용하는 주민들은 백신접종소까지 교통편을 제공받을 수 있습니다.
65세 이상 시니어들이 백신접종 예약을 완료하면 예약일에 맞춰 우버나 리프트, 셔틀버스 등을 통해 접종소인 ‘애비애이션 컬튜럴 커뮤니티 센터’까지 왕복 운행 서비스를 제공하도록 일정이 짜여집니다.
풀턴 당국은 카운티내 65세 이상 주민들이 모두 백신을 접종받을 때까지 매주 500명씩 접종을 완료하는 것이 목표라고 했습니다.
홀랜드 소장은 “백신접종 현황을 보면 인종별 차이가 두드러진다”며 “특히 저소득층 흑인 시니어들의 백신접종률이 현저히 낮아 도움이 필요해 보인다”고 했습니다.
풀턴에서는 지금까지 2만3000여명의 시니어들이 풀턴 보건부와 애틀랜타 풀턴카운티 비상관리기관이 운영하는 3개 접종소에서 이미 접종을 마친 것으로 알려졌습니다.
카운티 당국은 또한 정보와 자원 부족으로 교통편 서비스 등록이 어렵거나 이동 자체가 불편한 시니어들을 위해 직접 동네로 찾아가 백신 접종을 시행하는 모바일 백신 유닛인 ‘이동식 백신접종소’ 운영도 고려 중이라고 밝혔습니다.
