조지아주에서는 현재 16세 이상 누구나 코로나19 백신을 접종 받을 수 있지만 접근성이 떨어져 여전히 백신 접종에 어려움을 겪는 주민들이 있습니다.

귀넷-뉴턴-록대일 보건국은 최근 구역내 백신 접종률이 현저히 떨어지는 지역과 커뮤니티를 나타내는 지도를 만들어 접종률 격차 줄이기에 나섰습니다.

오드리 아로나 3개 카운티 보건국장은 7일 “3월 중순부터 백신 프로그램을 확장하고 접종률이 낮은 지역에 모바일 접종팀을 보내 매주 접종을 실시하고 있다”고 밝혔습니다.

특히 이달 들어서는 거의 매일 1개 혹은 2개의 모바일 팀이 각각 다른 장소로 보내져 주민들의 접종을 돕고 있다고 전했습니다.

모바일 팀은 2명의 간호사와 자원봉사자들로 구성돼 있으며 매 현장마다 100도스 분량씩을 접종하고 있다고 합니다.

당국은 주로 귀넷 동쪽과 남쪽 지역에 모바일 팀을 파송하는데 이들 지역은 카운티내 다른 지역에 비해 상대적으로 인구가 적어 백신 공급자가 거의 없기 때문이라고 설명했습니다.

보건국 자료에 따르면 5일 기준 귀넷 포함 카운티 3곳에 2회차 분량 37%를 포함해 지금까지 대략 12만회분 백신이 배포된 것으로 나타났습니다.  아로나 국장은 지역내 인구의 34%가 흑인이지만 이들 중 단지 18%만이 백신을 접종 받은 상태라고 말했습니다. 또한 “모바일 접종팀이 이같은 격차를 줄일 수 있기를 기대하고 있다”고 전했습니다.

한편 둘루스 귀넷 플레이스몰내 대형 백신 접종소에서는 매일 3천-3천6백회분 접종이 이루어지고 있는 것으로 파악됐습니다.
